Governors Debt Council

The Congress, through it’s accumulation of a federal debt seven times federal revenue, has all but forced the State legislatures to use their power under Article V of the U.S. Constitution to pressure members of Congress to propose a Balanced Budget Amendment for ratification. And while Governors have no direct role in this process, they are best positioned to lead. Therefore, members of the Governors Debt Council have pledged to use their position and voice to help achieve the adoption of a Balanced Budget Amendment to return America to a fiscally sustainable path.
